Gurgaon: The state education department has approved the long-awaited inter-district cadre change policy for junior basic training (JBT) teachers. The final clearance from the state cabinet is now awaited.

This approval follows finalisation of draft teachers’ transfer policy by the education minister, who has signed it. Sources suggest the schedule for the transfer process will be drawn up soon with implementation expected to begin in Dec after the policy is notified.

At present, these teachers are restricted to serving within the districts where they were initially recruited. However, the policy will provide relief to JBT teachers posted far from their home district.

The draft policy was formed after extensive consultations with stakeholders, including teacher associations and administrative experts, ensuring that the policy framework addresses both systematic requirements and individual concerns.

Meanwhile, principal secretary Santanpal Singh reiterated the department’s commitment to resolving transfer-related issues and confirmed that work on the annual transfer drive schedule is progressing at full pace.
