Chandigarh: Haryana education minister Mahipal Dhanda has said the state govt was focusing on upgrading school infrastructure alongside expanding academic opportunities, including foreign-language education and competitive-exam coaching.
Chairing a review meeting of the School Education and Higher Education departments at Haryana Niwas, Dhanda said a comprehensive survey of basic infrastructure in all government schools had been completed. The exercise has identified district-wise deficiencies and urgent requirements, on the basis of which development plans are being prepared.
He said construction and repair works in schools would be taken up on priority, with funds released without delay. The govt also aims to provide dual desks in all targeted government schools by November 2026. The tendering process for procurement has already begun. The minister said 250 CM-EEE schools had been identified for development as state-level model schools. Selected on stringent criteria and linked to the PM-SHRI school development process, these institutions will have dedicated school development plans aimed at improving infrastructure, academic quality and learning environment.
“Haryana is also expanding foreign-language learning in govt schools. With support from the Embassy of France, 60 teachers have been trained and French classes started in 26 govt schools. For German, 80 teachers have been selected and their training is underway with support from the German Embassy,” said a statement released by the govt.
