University of Liverpool campus in Bangalore now: Courses offered, admissions process, and fees explained

Ministry of Education has handed over the final Letter of Approval (LoA) to the University of Liverpool, allowing the UK-based institution to establish its branch campus in Bengaluru.The approval comes under the UGC’s 2023 regulations for foreign higher education institutions and is part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s push to internationalise higher education in India.

What courses will be offered?

The Bengaluru campus will start with a mix of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.At the undergraduate level, students can apply for Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Computer Science, Computer Science with Software Development, Biomedical Sciences and Game Design. Most undergraduate programmes will run for three years. For postgraduate students, the university has announced master’s programmes in Computer Science and Accounting and Finance, each with a one-year duration. Game Design is among the more unusual offerings and has been promoted by the university as a first-of-its-kind programme among UK university campuses operating in India.

Admissions have begun— how to apply

The university has already started accepting applications for its inaugural 2026 intake. The first batch of students is expected to begin classes in 2026. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through recognised qualifications. This includes at least 70% in Class 12 English from CBSE, CISCE or State Boards, specified scores in the International Baccalaureate (IB) English programme, or the required grades in Cambridge IGCSE English examinations.Prospective students can apply directly through the university’s admissions process. The institution has also indicated that scholarships and financial support options will be available for eligible students. Final admission decisions will be made based on combination of factors such as the applicant’s academic performance, statement of purpose (SOP) / personal statement, virtual interview performance, and any extraordinary achievements.Direct link to University of Liverpool’s admission portal

Will students receive a UK degree?

One of the biggest questions for applicants is whether the qualification will carry the same value as a degree earned in the UK.The University of Liverpool says students at the Bengaluru campus will study under UK-accredited programmes and follow the academic standards of the university. The institution has also highlighted opportunities for international exposure and collaboration through its global academic network.

What about fees?

The university has not yet widely published a complete fee structure for all programmes following the final approval announcement.However, the Bengaluru campus as a way for students to obtain a UK-accredited degree without the significantly higher living and study costs associated with moving abroad.
